Let the new swim team season begin

Well today is the first day of this year's swim team practice.  I figured that with both children swimming I'll easily log around 225 hours of sitting at the pool between now and the beginning of March.  This year I'm ready.  I've got MY CHAIR.  I wasn't so lucky last year.  After last year's 25 weeks, I threw my back out and was bedridden for almost a week.

I do, however, use my time wisely.  I usually read or work on our homeschool schedule.  Since both Kelly and Erik are swimming this year, with staggered times, I'll have them bring along school work or reading to fill in their time.  Plus, I've gotten to know so many other parents that I usually end up chatting for the whole time.

Patch Abilities

I just love these wall hanging kits from Patch Abilities.  For my birthday this year my Mom is sending me a kit each month.  I'm a little behind, but today I was able to put three together.  Now I just need to applique them, which is always a bit scary for me.  I think I'll have to hand applique a few areas on each one.

Completely Back to School

Even though we stated school a few weeks ago (I like to gradually get back into the swing of things), today is our first official full day back to school.  Yes, I know it's Labor Day, but since my husband has to work, so will we.

Kelly (11) is doing the following:

Math - PreAlgebra B
Spelling - Spelling Workout
Language Arts - Magic Lens and Word Within the Word (onlineG3)
Latin - Latin's Not So Tough
Composition - All Things Fun and Fascinating
Literature - Lightning Literature (onlineG3)
History - American History (onlineG3)
Typing - Mavis Beacon
Spanish - Rosetta Stone
Science (Biology) - Exploring Creating with Biology (VHSG)
Science (General Science) - Exploring Creation with General Science (VHSG)
Geography - Around the World in 180 Days

Erik (8) is doing:

Math - Singapore
Spelling - K12
Language Arts - K12
Latin - Latin's Not So Tough
Literature - Sonlight and K12
Typing - Mavis Beacon
Spanish - Rosetta Stone
History - K12 and Sonlight
Geography - Trail Guide to World Goegraphy
Science - various projects and classes

Kelly will be very independent this year since she is doing a majority of her work with online classes.  This will give me more time to work with Erik.

My kids really do like being homeschooled because they have the freedom to work at their own pace and get things done quickly.

Card Exchange

Here are the two cards that I'm doing with my Stampin' Up! upline's card exchange.

What have I done???

I've always wanted to try blogging.  So today, while visiting a few of my favorite blogs, I clicked a few buttons and viola...my own blog.  I had to quick think of a name....I hope I like it.  Gee, just one more thing to add to my list:

1. Homeschool my two children.
2. Shuttle the kids to homeschool classes and activities.
3. Shuttle the kids to swim team practice.
4. Manage the house.
5. Work on my Stampin' Up! Business.
6. Read my book for book club.
7. Continue my Bible study.
8. Work on quilt projects.

Here's what I hope to accomplish with my new blog:

1. Post my card creations.
2. Share my quilting projects.
3. Vent, when needed.
